The Unnamed Shinigami in the 5 Minute Clip Continuation

THEORY #2: LIGHT BECAME A SHINIGAMI

This theory is not mine! I discovered it from Anime Balls Deep on youtube. Video link below:

:no_entry_sign: some pictures are not mine, they are from the video above

:no_entry_sign: if you do not want to see any spoilers from death note, I advise to not continue reading this.

Death note is a very intense and psychological anime. It delivers us a feel of mystery, crime, and the difference between good and evil.

I will now state the reasons for this theory

REASON #1: THE SHINIGAMI WORLD

Ryuk, light's shinigami, originally dropped his death note into the human world, simply because he was bored. He claimed that the shinigami realm was boring and he needed excitement.

Death note rewrite 1 shows an unnamed shinigami. We dont know who he is, where he came from, or what his story is. The only thing we do know is that he was also bored of the shinigami realm and also wanted to go to the human world.

Now, ryuk told light that he did what he did because he was bored. why not follow in ryuk's footsteps??

REASON #2: NOTHINGNESS

Now I wouldn't call this a reason. Essentially it's a statement and/or another theory. When light, in the final scene of death note, is shown lying on the staircase, he is laying right in the middle. Now, that can be symbolism for heaven, hell, and nothingness.

amino-8588bdd9

Light us smack dab in the middle of "heaven and hell". The middle can be assumed as the shinigami realm. As we know, the shinigami realm is nothingness. Hence why ryuk and the other shinigami were bored. A death note user can neither go to heaven or hell. This explains why, overall, light was in the middle, symbolizing his entrance into nothingness. Into the shinigami realm.

REASON #3: APPEARANCE

It is said that a shinigami can be based on what he/she used to look like, or how they died. The unnamed shinigami wears a long tie around his head. This resembles the one light used to wear all the time with his school uniform.

The unnamed shinigami wears goggles upon his head. This can be meant to symbolize that light did not take the deal to use the shinigami eyes.

amino-f606cf72

He also carries a messenger bag, which is almost identical to the one light used to wear.

The shinigami has spiked hair, which is the same color, texture, and possibly overall length of lights.

Light sometimes dons red eyes due to his intense moments. Shinigami also have red eyes, and therefore can be infered that the red eyes of light and the shinigami are the same.

REASON #4: DEATH NOTE OPENING 2

Death note opening 2 has a symbolic scene in which light stands in the shinigami realm.

amino-548752ca

This can be assumed as a foreshadow for light. A foreshadow that symbolizes light's transition into the shinigami realm.

REASON #5: ACTIONS

The unnamed shinigami can be seen with a sort of a limp. in light's final moments, he has a limpish walk due to the gunshot wounds on his body. The limp can be symbolic to when light died.

(Couldn't find a video showing this. Watch for yourself sometime).

The unnamed shinigami, upon his meeting with ryuk, throws an apple at ryuk, as if he knows ryuk likes them. This can't be possible as no one in the realm knows who the unnamed shinigami is, including ryuk.

amino-e4f99cd2

It can be assumed that the unnamed shinigami knew ryuk, and knew he liked apples. But, as far as we knew, the only one who knew ryuk liked apples was light.

The unnamed shinigami also left before ryuk could ever finish his story. Can this be because the shinigami already knew the ending?? Did he already know the outcome of the story because he has some memories from his life as a human.

REASON #5: RYUK'S CONVERSATION WITH THE UNNAMED SHINIGAMI

The way in ryuk talks to the unnamed shinigami at the end of their conversation is like ryuk is talking directly to light himself. He speaks as if he is talking to light in that moment. Why would he speak in such a way in front of the unnamed shinigami? Unless, the shinigami was in fact light, and ryuk knew that.

REASON #6: LIGHT OWNED A DEAD SHINIGAMI'S DEATH NOTE

As we know, light technically died with rem's, a dead shinigami's, death note. It could be predicted that light became a shinigami because he died as a owner of a death note. As I said before, light might have essentially died, and gone into nothingness, the shinigami realm.

REASON #7: MU NOTHINGNESS

All humans, as said in the death note manga, will all eventually die, and when they do, the place they will eventually go to is MU. MU also means nothingness. I'm sorry to keep bringing up nothingness, but It is a very important aspect to this theory. The author of death note wanted to set a rule that no one can be brought back to life once they are dead. This is why death equals nothingness. once you die, you can never come back. You essentially don't go anywhere after death because there is nowhere to go anyways. This concept is really confusing.

Mu is a Japanese and Korean word that means: negative or absence if something. In Buddhism, mu means the answer to an improper question that doesn't have anything to merit it. In Japanese it means it means that after death, mu is where they go.

MU is all up to you. It is up to your interpretation. the rule of mu goes for both humans and death note users. This is why shinigamis, which have death notes, go to mu, or they end up in the shinigami realm. This explains why Light, also a death note user, also possibly went to mu, the shinigami realm.

★ :clubs: ★ :clubs: ★ :clubs:

Death note is a very complex anime that questions the morality of humans. Was light in his right place? Did he more good rather than more bad? Again, it is up to your interpretation, just as mu is. Matsuda also questions this fact at the end of the death note manga. He was the one to kill light (go matsuda! :')), but he questions whether or not he did the right thing.

This while theory is complex but either way, what do you think?

Comment your thought and/or DM me for more details. Or you could just watch the video at the beginning.

Welk thats it for this theory post!

I hope you enjoyed it!
